CASE STUDY CORROSION CONTROL

A 25-MW gas turbine cogeneration plant operating a
150,000 #/Hour waste heat boiler.

The plant had a severe problem with corrosion in the boiler feedwater piping that necessitated repairs or sectional replacements every 90-100 days. They had recently replaced a dump condenser due to severe corrosion.

Trident prescribed a program modification using a triple amine balanced to the plant's requirements. Variations were eliminated by automatically controlling pH waste at the decarbonator.

Dissolved iron levels dropped 700% to 0.07 resulting in dramatically cleaner boilers with improved energy efficiency. The plant operated for more than 14 months without corrosion related outages or repairs.
